“I don’t trust words, I trust actions. People can tell you anything but actions tell you everything!”
Immediately following the 2018 election, council members set priorities for the 2018-2022 term of council based on their election platforms and what they heard from residents while on the campaign trail.
While the position of Mayor is considered to be a part time position, I made it a full time commitment spending most days in the office and working collaboratively with staff to ensure goals were met and priorities brought forward to council for consideration.
Under my leadership I am pleased to say that all priorities have been met as well as a number of other initiatives and opportunities that were presented along the way.
My leadership style as Mayor of the Town of Wasaga Beach:
— I believe working together as as a team with ethics and honesty at the forefront is the best way to foster results. I feel a responsibility to ensure we have a strong, capable and ethical team within our staff and sitting at the council table making decisions in the best interests of the residents and community.
— Communication with those we represent through newsletters, media releases, truth corner, coffee with council etc., are paramount to ensuring our residents always have the facts and know what is going on in our community. You can trust that town hall is a source of factual and truthful information.
— Working collaboratively with staff respecting and acknowledging the expertise they bring to the organization and the important contributions they make is required in order to move Wasaga Beach forward.
— Passion and commitment to working towards and meeting the priorities set by council is a daily goal.
— Learning from past mistakes to ensure we are always moving Wasaga Beach forward.
— Laugh and have a bit fun. Life can be stressful, work can be stressful and we need to support each other.
“A team is not a group of people who work together. A team is a group of people who trust each other”

“Never worry about who will be offended if you speak the truth. Worry about who will be misled, deceived and destroyed if you don’t.”
Unfortunately some people choose to spread inaccurate and misleading information to the community. Social media and whisper campaigns are common tools for a small handful of individuals. The town is committed to transparency and ensuring our residents and community always have access to the truth and this past term of council created “Truth Corner.” This is a place on the town’s website where the town corrects inaccurate and misleading information that is shared through social media and print publications to ensure residents have access to factual information. TRUTH CORNER can be found by clicking this link.
The Town’s communication department does an excellent job of providing newsletters and up to date information to our residents. Please CLICK HERE to sign up to receive these directly to your email in box.
An initiative we took this past term of council was to highlight all the great things Wasaga Beach has to offer for those thinking of moving here as well as those considering opening a business. Please follow this link to learn more.

As mentioned on the home page you can learn more about me by reading “Becoming Nina, the best version of me.” This was something I wrote and posted on November 10, 2020. I had absolutely no obligation to share my personal life, but I also have nothing to hide. A small group in the community who were trying to undermine myself and the good things happening at town hall started campaigns of vilification and defamation. I have no time or desire to deal with the detractors and liars so I posted my life story so everyone who wanted the truth had it. I expect during this year’s election and campaign trail the same small group will be sharing lies so I encourage you to reach out to me if you have questions about me.
“Anybody that believes lies about you before hearing your side of the story was already looking for a way to be against you.”
